How the Site Runs

Readers sometimes ask how a small blog like this one decides what to publish and how it keeps the numbers straight. There is no newsroom and no grand process, just a short routine we follow for every piece. Here it is, step by step.

The people

Four writers share the work, all under pen names. We keep our private lives out of it, and we do not dress the site up with titles we do not hold.

  • Odalric writes about dice and wheel games. He is the one who will happily explain why the 7 matters so much at a craps table.
  • Fennick covers keno, bingo and jackpot games, the slower corners of the casino that tend to get less attention.
  • Isembard follows slots, online casinos and the wider news around betting apps.
  • Tobiah edits. Every figure in a draft passes across that desk before anything goes live.

Choosing a topic

Ideas come from three places: questions sent in by readers, gaps we notice in our own archive, and the games people search for most often. We favour subjects where a clear explanation is genuinely useful, such as how a round of a game unfolds or what a payout really means. We skip topics that would only be guesswork, like predictions, rankings of operators or "systems" promising an edge.

Writing the draft

A draft starts with the rules of the game, written out in full before any opinion creeps in. The writer then works out what each bet pays against how often it wins. If a figure depends on one venue's pay table, the article says so and labels any example as an example. Each piece also gets its own short responsible-play note that fits the game being discussed.

Checking the numbers

Tobiah recalculates every probability and house edge from scratch rather than copying it from the draft. If the result differs, the two writers sit down with the rules until they agree. Sentences that sound too confident get softened, and anything that cannot be checked is removed. You can see the same idea at work in our breakdown of roulette odds, where every percentage follows from the pocket count.

Publishing and updating

Publishing a piece does not close the file on it. Game rules change, online versions add new features, and readers sometimes spot something we missed. When that happens, we revise the article and correct the record. The full routine for fixing mistakes is on our page about how we handle errors.

What stays the same

A few principles do not move. Every article is aimed at readers over 18. Gambling is never presented as income. We do not run games or take bets of any kind. And we would rather publish one careful article than three hurried ones. Questions about this routine are welcome on the contact page.

If a number cannot be rebuilt from the rules of the game, it stays out of the piece.
